Retouching is the magic of hand finishing behind the photography world.
This is where Lee takes a great image, and brings out its finest qualities.
Perhaps a little extra contrast here, a little more colour there - but there's
so much more that can be done...
In the days of the darkroom this was called dodging and burning and now
in a digital darkroom with the aid of a computer the process is still much
the
same – except there is less guesswork and it's very precise.
Even Lee’s basic proofing quality before he really gets to work receives a
level of treatment that some consider to be their final quality. Lee just takes
it to another level.
Of course, there are tricks to make a person slimmer, brighten the teeth and
eyes, there’s all manner of face lifts in post production to be had... Lee will
advise on what is natural and what is possible. Be assured everyone will
come out looking their best.
(If there is a skin blemish or two, then I can help – I won’t tell, promise).
Some of the best retouching work is where no one is aware any work has
been done. The art of sublty is a fine craft and although presets are used
by some photographers, Lee‘s patience of individual hand finishing always
shines through and keeps every image unique.
And where more extreme moods and stylising is needed, then let creativity
fly. Lee has developed “looks” for many of his clients’ projects that give each
a stylised character much sought after.
The difference between a hand finished image and one that has come from
the camera can be truly amazing. We’re not talking gimmicks or special
effects, just great looking natural pictures that have a “wow” quality. It’s what
gives a signature style to Lee's work.
Great pictures have the potential to be amazing - and that's just what Lee does.
